Notes:

  1. “China” and “Other” refer to the nation allegedly benefitting from economic espionage under either §1831 or §1832 of the Economic Espionage Act.  Multiple or no nation is possible for a prosecution.  The total number of cases since 1996 is 145, of which 46 is identified as “China” and 99 as “Other.”
  2. “Alt Chrg” refers to the exclusive use of alternative charges (other than §1831 or §1832) where China is the alleged benefitting nation in economic espionage.  The current total is 5 cases.  Combining these 5 with the 46 cases identified as “China” above yields the current total of 51 cases in FedCases.
